Donations with Tax Deduction: How Supporting Ecobraz Transforms the Future of E-Waste Recycling

Donations with Tax Deduction: How Supporting Ecobraz Transforms the Future of E-Waste Recycling

Ecobraz is the largest NGO in the world dedicated to electronic waste recycling and digital inclusion. Through our projects, we not only collect and recycle tons of e-waste but also transform much of this material into functional equipment for schools, NGOs, and community centers in vulnerable regions.

Our flagship initiative, the Reciclando Project, creates technology hubs in favelas and underserved neighborhoods. Computers that were once destined for landfills become tools for education, access to the internet, and digital empowerment.

And here’s the key point: all of Ecobraz’s services are 100% free — both for individuals and for companies.

  • When a person calls us to dispose of an old computer, they pay nothing.

  • When a multinational needs to get rid of tons of obsolete equipment, we handle it free of charge.

  • When a community receives a new digital inclusion center, there is no bill at the end of the process.

But while services are free, they are not costless.

The Financial Challenge

Operating Ecobraz is extremely expensive. Collecting, transporting, storing, dismantling, sanitizing data, processing, recycling, and setting up community technology centers all require logistics, equipment, staff, and infrastructure.

And here lies a fundamental truth: Ecobraz does not receive government subsidies, public funding, or political support.

Our independence is non-negotiable. We are not tied to parties, politicians, or public programs. But independence has a cost: we rely solely on donations from individuals and companies.

Why OSCIP and Public Interest Status Matters

Fortunately, the State of São Paulo recognized Ecobraz as both an OSCIP (Public Interest Civil Society Organization) and a Public Interest Entity.

This recognition means that your donation to Ecobraz is eligible for income tax deduction.

You don’t spend extra. You simply choose to redirect part of the taxes you already owe so that instead of going to the Treasury, it funds projects that protect the environment and promote social justice.

How Income Tax Deduction Works

  • Individuals: may allocate up to 6% of their income tax due.

  • Companies (taxed under Real Profit system): may allocate up to 2% of their income tax due.

The donated amount is deducted directly from the income tax.

That means: if you owe taxes, you can decide whether part of that money goes to the government or whether it is invested in Ecobraz’s mission of e-waste recycling and digital inclusion.

Practical Example

Suppose your company owes R$ 1,000,000 in income tax. By law, it can donate up to R$ 20,000 to Ecobraz.

That R$ 20,000 would otherwise be absorbed into the federal budget without a clear destination. Redirected to Ecobraz, it becomes:

  • free collection of thousands of kilos of electronic waste;

  • dismantling and safe recycling of equipment;

  • new technology centers in low-income communities;

  • training and opportunities for people excluded from the digital economy.

For individuals, the calculation is similar. If you owe R$ 10,000 in taxes, you can allocate R$ 600 to Ecobraz at no additional cost.

Why Donate to Ecobraz?

  1. Real Environmental Impact – Ecobraz is the world leader in e-waste recycling. Every ton recycled means fewer toxic materials in the environment.

  2. Social Inclusion – Thousands of children, youth, and adults gain access to digital tools and training through our programs.

  3. Transparency and Documentation – Every donor receives full legal and tax documentation for compliance and auditing.

  4. No Extra Cost – Donations are deducted from taxes you already owe. You don’t pay a single cent more.

  5. Independence and Credibility – Ecobraz is free from government and political influence. We exist thanks to conscious individuals and responsible corporations.

Stories That Inspire

In Cidade Tiradentes, São Paulo, dozens of children who had never touched a computer are now learning programming and accessing online education thanks to a technology lab set up with equipment that Ecobraz rescued from electronic waste.

In Rio de Janeiro’s favelas, NGOs have received hundreds of refurbished computers. Young people who were once excluded from the digital world now have the tools to study, prepare for the job market, and dream of a better future.

Each of these success stories is made possible because a person or company decided to donate through tax deduction.

Conclusion: Redirect, Don’t Just Pay

Donating to Ecobraz is not charity — it is strategic, intelligent, and transformative.

You already owe income tax. The only question is:
➡️ Will you let the entire amount go to the government, or will you redirect part of it to create real, measurable impact?

Supporting Ecobraz guarantees that:

  • tons of electronics are recycled;

  • communities gain digital access;

  • Brazil advances in sustainability and inclusion.

The choice is yours.

➡️ Donate to Ecobraz today. Transform your taxes into positive impact.
