The Importance of Proper Electronic Waste Management in Greater São Paulo

Proper electronic waste management is essential to minimize environmental impacts and ensure compliance with current legislation. In the Greater São Paulo region, the increasing generation of electronic waste demands efficient solutions for responsible collection and disposal, aligned with the guidelines of the National Information System on Solid Waste Management (SINIR) and the Environmental Company of the State of São Paulo (CETESB).

Legislation Applicable to Electronic Waste Management

The management of electronic and electrical waste is mainly based on Decree No. 7,404/2010, which establishes the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), regulated by Law No. 12,305/2010. This law sets shared responsibility among all involved parties, including manufacturers, importers, distributors, retailers, and end users, promoting reverse logistics.

Collection and Destination of Electronic Waste

Electronic waste collection must be conducted by specialized organizations that operate in accordance with current technical and environmental standards. Proper segregation, transportation, and storage are fundamental to prevent environmental contamination and public health risks. Responsible disposal of electronic waste, available for online scheduling, ensures the reuse, recycling, and recovery of valuable materials according to the parameters of the Technical Waste Manual (MTR).

Control and Sanitization of Hard Drives and Storage Media

To guarantee information security, it is essential to adopt processes such as demagnetization, physical destruction, or certified sanitization of hard drives (HD) and storage media. These procedures comply with information security standards, such as the recommendations of NIST, and can be performed through specialized scheduling. This practice prevents data leaks and protects corporate assets during disposal.

Environmental and Corporate Benefits of Proper Management

Responsible management of electronic waste helps reduce water, soil, and atmospheric pollution. Furthermore, the reuse of components decreases the extraction of raw materials, aligning with ESG guidelines. In accordance with the National Solid Waste Policy, companies and corporate organizations optimize their environmental indicators and regulatory compliance through proper management.

ManifestTransparency & Security Manifesto

Evidence and transparency: Our ESG approach is built on traceable documentation, verifiable records and auditable operational criteria. We turn electronic waste management into operational evidence to support governance, traceability and the mitigation of environmental, documentary and corporate risks. Documentary security and compliance: Documented traceability helps reduce regulatory exposure, strengthens documentary defensibility and supports alignment with applicable environmental policies, corporate contracts and governance requirements, including national and international references relevant to supply chains. Operational costing of reverse logistics: Door-to-door collection and responsible processing of electronic waste involve relevant logistics, technical and documentary costs. For this reason, Ecobraz structures transparent operational costing models linked to reverse logistics execution, with no promise of financial return, investment or asset appreciation. Governance: Operational execution is guided by compliance, traceability and verifiable documentation criteria. The priority is to strengthen the client’s corporate evidence, reduce documentary gaps and support safer, more responsible and defensible disposal decisions.
