The initiative seeks to strengthen sustainability and reduce the environmental impacts caused by the improper disposal of electronic devices.
One of the main changes concerns the expansion of the obligations of the sectors responsible for managing electronic waste. The decree expands the list of products subject to reverse logistics, including more categories of electronics that were never covered before, such as small portable electronics and accessories.
In addition, the decree encourages the creation of more accessible and efficient collection points, facilitating correct disposal by consumers. The participation of the retail trade as a facilitator in reverse logistics is also reinforced, expanding channels for the return of obsolete or defective electronic devices.
For the consumer, the decree promotes easier disposal, with strategically placed collection points and more frequent educational campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of reverse logistics. This is in addition to ensuring that collection is free of charge and integrated into the life cycle of products.
From an environmental point of view, the new regulations represent a significant step forward in reducing e-waste and reducing pollution from irregular disposal, collaborating in the recovery of valuable materials and the proper treatment of toxic substances present in electronics.
Although the decree brings important advances, some challenges remain, such as the need for greater supervision to ensure compliance with the new rules and the effectiveness of reverse logistics. Another relevant point is the training of all those involved in the process to act correctly in the collection, transportation and recycling of electronic waste.
Decree 10.936/2022 marks a decisive step towards improving the management of electronic waste in the country. It is hoped that with its implementation, Brazil will make progress in building a robust circular economy in the area of electronics, promoting the reuse of materials and reducing environmental impact.
With increased awareness and public participation, the reverse logistics scenario should be consolidated, ensuring greater sustainability and quality of life for the population.
