Ecobraz Emigre publishes original technical reports on the governance, evidence and final destination of post-use electrical and electronic assets. Each report is deposited on Zenodo — an open research repository operated by CERN — and receives a DOI (Digital Object Identifier), a persistent identifier that ensures the document can be located and cited in a stable way, today and in the future.

These are technical and conceptual works authored by Marcio Villanova (ORCID 0009-0001-8072-6287), version 1.0, not submitted to peer review. They do not replace the legal, environmental or technical assessment applicable to each specific case — and it is precisely this transparency about scope and limits that also guides our operation.

Published reports

1. Post-Use Electrical and Electronic Assets as Corporate Risk: Environmental, Asset and Information Governance

Proposes a conceptual matrix of post-use exposure across the environmental, asset, information and evidential dimensions — distinguishing retirement from use, asset write-off, physical removal, data treatment and environmental destination as separate events, each with its own responsible parties and its own evidence.

2. Asset Write-Off Does Not End the Risk: Responsibilities and Evidence in IT Asset Decommissioning

Shows why a write-off in the fixed-asset register does not, on its own, prove physical removal, transfer of custody, data treatment or environmental destination — and proposes the Post-Use Closure Vector to track each closure state separately.

3. Residual Data Risk in Decommissioned Equipment: Media Governance, Sanitisation and Accountability

Relates the duties under the LGPD (Brazil's data protection law), the guidance issued by the ANPD and the NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 technical reference, and proposes the Residual Information Risk Matrix to decide the appropriate treatment for each type of media — without assuming that a single technique suits every case.

4. Chain of Custody for Electronic Waste: Integrity, Continuity and Traceability of Evidence

A conceptual chain-of-custody architecture — the ability to maintain a reconstructable link between object, custodian, event, time and evidence — with terminology grounded in ISO 22095 and an analysis of the distinct documentary functions of the MTR (waste transport manifest) and the CDF (final destination certificate).

5. From Collection to Final Destination: What Each Stage Can Support — and What It Cannot

Starts from the principle of minimal assertion: a request is not a booking, a booking is not a collection, a collection is not receipt, and an MTR is not a CDF. Proposes the Evidential Scope Matrix by Stage, linking each record to the fact it actually supports.

6. Evidence of Environmental Destination: Scope and Limits of Documents, Records and Certificates in Isolation

Examines what collection, transport, receipt and destination documents can prove on their own, and proposes the Evidential Sufficiency Matrix — seven qualitative tests to assess the issuer, object, scope and consistency of each record.

7. Qualifying Reverse Logistics Providers: Risk-Based Due Diligence for Procurement, Compliance and Audit

A risk-based due diligence framework for qualifying and monitoring providers of removal, transport, treatment and final destination — showing why a licence, a price, a contract or a certificate in isolation does not demonstrate all the competence required for a specific scope.

8. Multi-Site Reverse Logistics: Controls for Distributed Corporate Operations

Governance for operations that remove electrical and electronic assets from multiple sites, cities or states: how to balance corporate standards with local conditions while keeping inventories, providers and evidence reconcilable with one another.

9. Non-Conformities in the Destination of Electronics: A Taxonomy for Audit and Corporate Control

A taxonomy with six finding states for recording and handling documentary discrepancies without going beyond the available facts — separating immediate correction, root-cause analysis, corrective action and closure verification.

10. Indicators Without Evidence: The Limits of Weight, Volume and Recycling Percentages in Corporate Accountability

Examines why weight, volume and percentages can appear precise and still be insufficient for accountability purposes. Proposes the Waste Indicator Identity Sheet and distinguishes measured, calculated, estimated, declared and verified values.
